The Big Picture Story Bible

Today I decided to share one of my favorite children's Bible storybooks.  If I had to buy just one children's Bible for my young kids -- this would be it.

by David Helm
Illustrated by Gail Schoonmaker

The Big Picture Story Bible by David Helm is organized unlike any other I've seen.  Instead of a random collection of Biblical stories, he puts them all in a big-picture context.  From the Old Testament to the New, from Creation to the return of Christ and the Kingdom, it's all told with the thread of God's promise and God's purpose to eventually have "God's people in God's place under God's rule."  I love that it gives such an awesome Biblical overview in such simple, understandable terms.  Giving context to each story lends so much more meaning and accuracy.  I love reading through this whole book the week before Christmas and Easter.  It takes a "holiday" from a trivial day, to an opportunity to understand the hugeness of the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus...a long awaited promise faithfully fulfilled.

It's available on Amazon with an audio CD included.
