Day TEN: My Crush on the Brush of Jon J. Muth

The watercolor artwork of Jon J. Muth is one of my biggest crushes.  Oh so jealous.  And oh so in awe of his talent.  He makes it all look so simple.  But this kind of simple beauty is genius.

I first made Muth's acquaintance from his Zen books:  Zen Shorts , Zen Ties and Zen Ghosts .  You many also recognize his work from Stone Soup, The Three Questions, City Dog Country Frog, or his most recent release, Blowin' in the Wind. While I do love his writing style for the same beautiful simplicity that marks his paintings, it was always his talent with a paint brush that made me fall in love.

Enjoy the sheer gorgeousness of the eye candy:

*sigh*  Watercolor at its finest.

  1. I haven't read any books illustrated by Jon J Muth - but those are gorgeous! We'll have to look for some on our next library trip...

    1. Have fun! A lot of them have an eastern slant, thus the zen. The content of certain ones isn't my thing. But I LOVE Zen Shorts and Zen Ties.

  2. P.S. I found you via Amanda at Impress Your Kids - as I was hunting around for other book-related 31 Days series (I'm doing 31 Days of Awesome Kids' Books).

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I remember you from last years 31 Days. As a quirky bookworm myself I liked your name and logo. I'll be dropping in on your 31 Days all month. I love book recommendations!
