Nolan's Pick of the Week: I Love You, Stinky Face

Nolan has a new favorite book.  It's one of my old favorites from when Matthew was younger, so I am thrilled to have it back in circulation.  I Love You Stinky Face is the story of a mother's unconditional love and I don't think I could love it more than I do.

"I love you my wonderful child,"
said Mama as she tucked me in.

But I had a question.

"But Mama, what if
I was a super, scary ape,
would you still love me then?"

And so begins the litany of scenarios the little boy conjures up to test the length and breadth of his mama's love.  What if he was a terrible meat-eating dinosaur with razor-sharp claws?  Or a green alien from Mars?   Or a super smelly skunk who smells so bad his name is Stinky Face?  Over and over his mama goes to great lengths to prove her love.  It's playful, rambunctious and sweet.  Sweet in the best boy-ish way.

I'm currently constructing a Must-Own Picture Books booklist.  Heads up:  this one will be on it.  Some books are good library books, and some you just have to have on your own bookshelf for keeps. This Lisa McCourt, Cyd Moore masterpiece has found a home at our house.
