19: Sci-fi Saturday - Marie Lu's Legend

I just finished Marie Lu's Legend this weekend.   It's the first book in a trilogy, and I love trilogies.  It aids the illusion that I'm reading about real people.  I really enjoyed the unique feel of this Dystopian novel.  If I had to label it, I'd say it felt a bit animé.  The two young protagonists, Day and June, were both quick thinking, agile fighters that I imagined in comic book glory.  While young and vulnerable in some ways, they were both larger-than-life in others.  They drew me in and I stayed up too late to get to the end.  I then berated myself for not already putting Prodigy on hold at the library, and dove to my computer to add it to my list.

INTERESTING FACT:  the author, Marie Lu, is an artist herself.  Here are some of her own renditions of June and Day.

INTERESTING RUMOR:  Legend may join the ranks of young adult novels hitting the big screen.

ENTICEMENT:  If you quickly read Legend (#1) and Prodigy (#2), you'll be ready for Champion (#3) when it hits stores November 5th.
